Elephant Jungle Safari

Full day (multi-day custom trips are available upon request)

Customize this exciting day-long adventure into Xe Pian's natural protected area by selecting two of the following options:

Wetlands
On this segment of your safari, you will marvel at the power and stability of your elephant as it splashes down muddy banks and casually strolls along the edge of the spectacular Xe Pian wetlands through knee-deep water.

Expansive views of the wetlands and primary forest beyond stretch out to the horizon. Domestic buffalo lounge nearby and an array of birdlife dots the landscape.

From this uniquely high vantage point you will watch villagers in small dugout canoes engaging in traditional fishing practices, traditional farmers tending fields. You may even see other elephants enjoying the cool water while grazing on tasty floating vegetation.

Xe Pian's Dense Forsts
Be prepared for untold adventure when you leave the beaten elephant track and follow small trails deep into Xe pian's biodiversity rich forest.

Here, our skilled elephant trainers and nature guides will lead you on an exciting journey through your elephant's own natural habitat. From a comfortable perch you will travel across rice paddies, up and down hills, through the dense forests, over streams and even gracefully lurch over large fallen logs. Along the way our experienced guides will point out medicinal and edible forest products, and possibly some of the wildlife found in Xe Pian.

How This Tour Benefits the Village
The 15 elephants in the village are managed by the villagers, with 13 being owned by the villagers themselves. A total of 30 families are involved in taking care of the elephants and benefit directly from the fees from elephant rides. The families take turns in providing elephant rides to tourists in order to share the benefits fairly. A portion of the elephant ride fees is put into the village development fund so that the entire village benefits from tourism.
